Hi, I’m Marlee
Marlee E. Tyska, MSW, LICSW
Holistic Psychotherapist
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist
Kripalu Certified Mindful Outdoor Guide
Reiki Master
Over the past two decades, I have worked as a trauma therapist with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced the effects of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have extensive experience supporting individuals who have experienced abuse, as well as those who have witnessed violence within their families or communities. I also work with clients facing anxiety, depression, school-related challenges, and those exploring their own spiritual growth and self-discovery. Additionally, I am interested in supporting women navigating infertility challenges and those experiencing postpartum depression.
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Westfield State University in 2012 and completed my undergraduate studies at Sage College of Albany and Hudson Valley Community College in 2008 and 2010. My academic focus included Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, and Law. I am a nationally certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT) and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts.
Throughout my career, I have worked directly with child and adolescent survivors of sexual assault during my time at Berkshire County Kids’ Place and the Violence Prevention Center. I have also supported individuals affected by community violence and those involved in the criminal justice system through my work at Pittsfield Community Connections. I regularly collaborate with local agencies and providers, including Berkshire Juvenile Court, The Brien Center, 18 Degrees, Girls Inc., and the Pittsfield Public Schools.
My practice has been shaped by both my professional experience and my personal journey. In recent years, I have become increasingly focused on the powerful benefits that nature offers for the mind, body, and spirit. Spending time outdoors and connecting with the natural world—especially here in the Berkshires, home to some of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the region—should not be viewed as a privilege, but as an essential part of overall well-being. I strive to inspire and encourage others to experience the healing benefits of hiking and connecting with nature throughout the Berkshires. Whenever appropriate, I incorporate these principles into my work with clients, helping them tap into the restorative qualities of the natural environment.
In addition to my formal education and clinical training, I offer energy healing modalities as a complementary option for clients interested in holistic approaches to wellness. I have been practicing Reiki since 2010 and am a certified Reiki Master, having received both Master-level attunement and certification. I believe healing can take many forms, and for some individuals, energy work can serve as a valuable complement to traditional mental health treatment and therapy.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy hiking with my family. During the warmer months, we spend our time boating, swimming, and enjoying the lakes throughout the region. I have also taken several cross-country camping trips across the United States, focusing on exploring and hiking in our national parks. One of my biggest dreams and bucket-list goals is to backpack through the Swiss Alps with my family when my children are old enough to enjoy the adventure alongside me.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Berkshire GreenLeaf & Wellness. I hope to see you out on the trails!
